As privacy concerns continue to escalate.

In recent weeks, more and more people seem to have been deleting their Facebook accounts due to concerns over the site’s new privacy policies.

Although Facebook doesn’t publish statistics on how many of their estimated 400 million members have quit the site, there is a growing number of netizens expressing disappointment over the social networking site’s alleged lack of concern for the privacy of users’ personal information. This is especially after a technical glitch allowed a user’s Facebook friends see each others’ private chat messages.

As a matter of fact, more than a dozen privacy and consumer protection groups have recently banded together to take their complaints to United States of America legislators.

Still, the account deletions appear to be not numerous enough to cause a damaging blow to the site’s membership. On the contrary, ā€œFacebook has grown by more than 10 million active users since late Aprilā€ said Facebook spokeswoman Annie Ta via e-mail.
