In recent weeks, more and more people seem to have been deleting their Facebook accounts due to concerns over the siteās new privacy policies. Although Facebook doesnāt publish statistics on how many of their estimated 400 million members have quit the site, there is a growing number of netizens expressing disappointment over the social networking siteās alleged lack of concern for the privacy of usersā personal information. This is especially after a technical glitch allowed a userās Facebook friends see each othersā private chat messages. As a matter of fact, more than a dozen privacy and consumer protection groups have recently banded together to take their complaints to United States of America legislators. Still, the account deletions appear to be not numerous enough to cause a damaging blow to the siteās membership. On the contrary, āFacebook has grown by more than 10 million active users since late Aprilā said Facebook spokeswoman Annie Ta via e-mail. |
