Earlier this year, after 40 years together as a group that largely shaped Pinoy music, APO Hiking Society announced their decision to retire from performing and recording. APO has been conducting a series of farewell gigs in the country and abroad since then, the final leg of which is slated May 27-29 at the Music Museum. The Pinoy pop trio composed of Jim Paredes, Buboy Garrovillo, and Danny Javier had said that each has decided to pursue their individual interests. Lead vocalist Danny Javier, now residing in General Santos City, has turned into a business consultant. Jim Paredes currently teaches a course at the Ateneo where the group was formed aside from writing a newspaper column and conducting workshops on photography and creativity. Buboy Garovillo, meanwhile, is now a TV actor and appears in GMA 7 teleserye “Diva”. Javier has also expressed that this is a good time for APO to quit, with their reputation still intact. |
